Misty Thistle Pipes & Drums
Join the band! All are welcome to learn to play the pipes or drums!
How to Join

If you are already a piper or Highland drummer, then just begin attending regular practices, learn our simple march sets, and be prepared to have some year-round fun! After playing our main sets/scores and getting the okay from our Pipe Major or Drum Sergeant, we'll check out a band kit to you (pipe chanter, uniform, etc), add you to the roster, and welcome you into full membership. For information on band business, practices, and music, please contact our Band Manager, Jane Bolima, at janeinak@yahoo.com or (907) 220-7041, or contact our Pipe Major, Bill Urquhart, at urquhart@kpunet.net or (907) 228-4527. Visiting pipers passing through town are also welcome, so please get ahold of us!

Learn to Play

To learn to play (you won't regret it!), stop by one of our practices to see what it's all about and get an introductory lesson; we're friendly and love to meet people interested in playing with us. We usually set aside a little time at the start of practice to teach beginners, and at that time we can pair you up with an instructor who can work with you until you are ready to play with the band. Please wait to talk to one of us before purchasing a tutor book, practice chanter, or other piping supplies. Hope to hear from you soon! And remember, you don't have to be Scottish, you can learn at any age, and anyone who is willing to put in regular practice time can learn to play the pipes! For information about practices and learning, contact our Band Manager, Jane Bolima, at janeinak@yahoo.com or (907) 220-7041, or for individual piping lessons outside of band practice, contact Rob Alley at ralley@kpunet.net.
